PROFESSIONALLY GUIDED FLY FISHING

Classic Guided Fly Fishing on Blue Ribbon Streams -
Streamside Orvis offers a complete guide service for classic fly fishing on some of the country's finest trout streams. Guides are available for full day and half day float and wade trips on "flies only" waters of the Manistee and AuSable Rivers, as well as the beautiful Boardman, birthplace of the Adams fly. Wild rainbow, brown and brook trout are the catch and release quarry using dry fly, nymph and streamer tactics. Although trips run all year on the "flies only" water, favorite hatches include the Hendricksons and black caddis in May, sulfurs, brown drakes and isonychia in June, and the famous hex hatch in late June and July. Late July and August terrestrial, trico, and baetis fishing rounds out the summer. Aggressive Fall spawning browns chase large streamers and attracters in September

Downstream, late August turns the guides' attention to Lake Michigan coho and chinook salmon. This migration of large fish culminates in October with a fall run of steelhead. Steelhead fishing continues all winter and peaks with the huge Spring run of steelhead in March and April. These enormous 8 to 15 pound lake-run rainbow trout draw anglers from around the world. Guides utilize traditional sink tip, indicator or, if you prefer, "chuck and duck" methods to land silvery sticks of dynamite. The lower Manistee, below Tippy Dam, has some of the heaviest runs of salmon and steelhead in the world. Guides also float and wade the Betsie and Platte Rivers for salmon and steelhead. Farther south and earlier in the runs, our guides float the Muskegon and Pere Marquette Rivers. Streamside Outfitters can guide you and your guests or clients on more water and for more of the season than any other outfitter.

The Homestead Resort — An Orvis Endorsed Lodge
Streamside Orvis, Orvis Michigan and the Homestead Resort, an Orvis Endorsed Lodge, also offer private salmon and steelhead water on the tiny Crystal River. Each Spring, Orvis Michigan offers a unique Steelhead School in April. This school will teach you how to effectively fish for Michigan steelhead using a variety of methods, tackle and techniques. As well, October brings thousands of salmon and Orvis Michigan is there with a special Salmon School. The Homestead Resort offers special rates for it’s anglers and has Orvis Endorsed Guides available all year long.
