Keough Full Saddle Grade #1 Grizzly
From foot-long streamers to throw at predatory musky to tiny dry flies to cast in front of sipping trout, Keough Farms helps you pursue them all with their Full Grizzly Saddles. These Saddles have beautifully barred feathers in a range of different sizes and feather types to let you select just the right feather for the fly at hand–whether you need a fine feather with stiff barbs to tie a size 16 parachute or long webby feathers to tie Hollow Fleyes for saltwater, this saddle accommodates all of your tying needs. Keough Farms’s Full Grizzly Saddles are hand graded by Bill Keough Farms himself, and these saddles are available in grades #1 and #2. One of those saddles that you’ll be plucking feathers off of for years, these Full Grizzly Saddles are ready to tie a ton of different patterns.
Uses
Due to their versatility in feather types and sizes, Keough Farms’s Full Grizzly Saddles can be used on a ton of different flies. The innovative tier will come up with hundreds of ways to use these feathers, but a few of the most common are: tails and wings on streamers of all sizes, hackling a dry fly, tying wings on a dry fly, palmering Wooly Buggers, and even tying in pectoral fins on flies like the Game Changer.
Comparisons
Full Saddles are commonplace in the world of fly tying and many other very similar options exist, but if you’re looking for a nearly exact copy of the Keough Farms Grizzly Saddle, Keough Farms’s Grizzly Dry Fly Half Saddle is just that. This Half Saddle is the same as their full saddle, only you get half of a saddle, making it much more cost-effective. This makes it a great choice for the tier that doesn’t need to invest in a full saddle, yet still wants the versatility in size and shape, as well as the stunning barred look found on the Full Grizzly Saddle.
